ESS Security Doors are specifically designed and manufactured to be tough and dependable. They are strong enough to withstand punishing personnel-ridden vehicle traffic yet lightweight enough to open easily, operate smoothly, and allow for damage free, safe passage for personnel and equipment.
Gasketing – Full perimeter gasketing provides thermal separation and is factory applied without the use of metal strips or fasteners, making it easy to replace in the field.
Door Panel – Patented, one-piece rotationally molded construction with ¼” thick cross-linked polyethylene outer skin, offers the lightest weight per panel of any USPS approved traffic door. This door offers extraordinary impact resistance and retains its properties to –40oF.
Internal Reinforcement – The leading and back edge of door are internally reinforced with tubular steel to ensure flatness and strengthen the door panel.
Upper Hinge – Double-acting V-Cam hinging system operates smoothly and is virtually maintenance free with its permanently lubricated needle bearing roller assembly. Optional stainless steel hinge is available.
Bottom Hinge – The bottom hinge attaches to the internal steel reinforcement and is constructed with a ductile iron, powder coated hinge shaft for traditional strength and durability. 11” aluminum industrial hinge guards are standard.
Bumpers – The ultimate in door protection, the rotationally molded high-impact teardrop bumpers act as a shock absorber, extending the life of the door. 38” high bumpers are standard on both sides of the door.
Additional Security – Upper and lower cane bolts, 2” chain or cable lock sleeves, and tamper proof fasteners are used for additional security.
Window – Double glazed 1/8” thick polycarbonate recessed vision panels with three security bars spaced 7” centers.
Insulated Core – The foamed-in-place Non-CFC urethane core (permanently bonded to the outer surface) does not break down when impacted, provides sound abatement, and excellent thermal separation with an R factor of 14.58.
RE-5 approved security doors are equipped with the following:
- Heavy-duty industrial teardrop bumpers
- Three security bars spaced on 7" centers.
- Double-glazed 1/8" polycarbonate recessed vision panels

Model ESS-XLP-0888
A revolutionary new double acting traffic door offering a contemporary “designer style” look with a 3 dimensional surface. Integrated “baseball bat” bumpers above and below the window add built-in protection against abusive traffic. The XLP-0888 improves productivity by getting people and product through the door even faster. The door is designed to compliment today's more vibrant store décor, open and close faster and easier, be safer to use, simple to install and easy to maintain. SpringFX™ Technology – improves productivity by turning impact energy into opening speed with SpringFX technology. As the door absorbs an impact, the lightweight “hollow core” plastic door and bumpers will compress back to their normal shape accelerating the opening speed.
Door Panel – Exclusive “hollow core” panel is thin, flexible and lightweight. The shell uses a recyclable polyethylene plastic and has a minimum wall thickness of 1/8”, overall panel thickness varies from 1” to 2” due to its 3 dimensional surface of “baseball bat” bumpers below and above the window.
Window and Frames – To aid in safety the door comes standard with a large, 7” x 30” oblong ADA and OSHA compliant window, which provides better visibility and reduces accidents. To compliment the door a black rubber molding is used for the frame.
Back Edge Spine – For added strength and durability, the entire length of the panel is reinforced at the back with a one piece continuous extruded aluminum with flanges that wrap the door panel. The spine is powder coated gray or black.
Soft Front Leading Edge – The leading edge has a molded in extrusion to accept a soft leading edge safety gasket. Bi-parting doors use a blade gasket.
Hinge – The Ultra Soft Touch™ (patent pending) assisted gravity hinge system (patent pending) is “hidden” in the back spine. There are no unattractive upper panel cutouts or large corner hinge components visible. The hinge system is pre-installed, saving installation time and money. The hinge contains a coil spring so the door opens and closes fast. The hinge allows for extra wide swing, reducing damage to the panel. Panel centering adjustment is located at the bottom of the door.
Model ESS-CD-XLS528
The Durulite Evolution XLS528 is an excellent alternative to the traditional, limited swing insulated door that is easier to open, safer to use, more durable, reliable and energy efficient. A refined swing action and component reliability were achieved by testing the panel and hinge system with over one million cycles of accelerated life testing.
Door Panel - Lightweight door panel is easy to open, operates smoothly and allows for safe passage of personnel and equipment. The overall panel thickness is 1.75" and can be sized up to 8' x 9'. The durable roto-molded polyethylene plastic panel is unaffected by water, detergents, chemical solvents and petroleum products.
Window - Windows are ADA and OSHA compliant 10” x 30”, two piece injected molded, low profile frames with double vision pane 1/8” thick polycarbonate.
Based on research with current users of traffic doors, every aspect of this door has been carefully engineered to revolutionize traffic door functionality.
Hinge Swing - The extra wide XLS528 swings135º per leaf from the center closed position to give a full clear opening when bumpers are used. The extra wide swing maximizes a clear usable opening which allows for “vectoring” or beginning a turn immediately after going through the opening and insures that the bumpers do not block the opening. Lower metal cam and self-lubricating UHMW polyethylene cam and upper hinge bearing components are pre-lubricated.
Easy to push open and quicker to close! - The full length back spine contains the in-line cam, coil spring gravity assist hinge system that assures faster closing, quicker settling time with less “back and forth” over swing as the door finds its closed position. It also holds the door closed where a “wind” will keep the door hanging open in negative and positive air pressure environments.
Environmental barrier seals better - The Durulite Evolution provides superior thermal control because there are no hinge and jamb guard cut-outs. Full perimeter nose, floor, jamb and header seals eliminate difficult to seal notch openings for external hinges that are found at the top and/or bottom of a traditional door panel. Fully gasketed or partially gasketed versions are available.
Jamb Guard - Low profile 8” high cast metal jamb guard comes standard projecting 3.5” to maximize useable opening width, allowing larger loads to pass through the opening unobstructed.
