TouchProbe adds Touch Memory reading to our complete line of rugged, portable data collectors. With a simple touch, the TouchProbe reads from or writes to Touch Memory buttons. Touch Memory buttons are memory chips housed in small, water-resistant, stainless steel canisters.
The TouchProbe's rugged durability and real-time internal clock make it ideal for applications such as transportation, security, manufacturing, and maintenance tracking. (Specifications)
Memory - The TouchProbe is available with 128K of internal memory, which allows you to store up to 5,000 button reads before downloading the data to the computer. The TouchProbe automatically date and time stamps each button read and stores a complete record of all button transactions for later transfer to your computer.
TouchProbe System - A basic TouchProbe system includes a TouchProbe, a TouchProbe Downloader Station, a serial port cable, Touch Memory buttons, and the TouchProbe Communications software (DOS).

TouchProbe Downloader Station The TouchProbe Downloader Station provides the communications link between the TouchProbe and the computer. With available communication speeds of up to 19,200 baud, downloading a TouchProbe to your computer takes only seconds. An added benefit of the downloader is its ability to communicate with a PC laptop without external power, providing complete portability. (Specifications) |

TouchProbe DownloaderPlus
The DownloaderPlus allows the TouchProbe to communicate from remote locations via an external modem. TouchProbes can be individually configured to include a phone number, instructions for either host or remote initiated calls, and modem commands.
The collected data can be transferred to your host computer automatically by simply inserting the TouchProbe into the DownloaderPlus. Upon insertion of the TouchProbe, DownloaderPlus can initiate a call and send or receive information as required.

Battery With the TouchProbe, you'll never need to worry about running out of power. The TouchProbe's 9-volt alkaline battery requires no recharging and provides up to one year of uninterrupted performance. The lithium back-up battery retains the stored data when replacing the 9-volt battery. Extend your TouchProbe's battery life up to two years by replacing the 9-volt alkaline battery with a 9-volt lithium battery. |

Memory Buttons Touch Memory buttons are electronic memory chips contained in small, water-resistant, stainless steel canisters. All Touch Memory buttons contain a unique ID number that is unalterable and identifies each button. There are two types of Touch Memory buttons: read-only and read/write. The read-only buttons work like an electronic label inside a durable metal shell. The read/write buttons provide the same protection and durability and also allow you to store information on-site -- a feature paper-based labels cannot offer. Read/write buttons provide 4,000 bits of memory space for writing data and the button's lithium battery retains the data for up to ten years. The Touch Memory button's stainless steel container protects the memory chip and provides an electrical path for communication with the TouchProbe. The top of the button is connected to the enclosed memory chip circuit, and the bottom and sides provide a signal ground. When you touch a button with the TouchProbe, an electrical connection is established and data is transferred instantaneously. You can attach buttons to virtually anything by using permanent adhesive pads, mounting brackets, or key ring tabs. |

With the TouchProbe Communications software, you can configure the TouchProbe to read from and write to a variety of Touch Memory buttons and download the data to your computer as an ASCII text file for easy import into your database or spreadsheet. The communications software also allows you to send text to the TouchProbe to be written to a read/write button. |

DOS - The TouchProbe Communications software for DOS computers includes one 3.5" high-density disk and complete documentation on the operation of hardware and software. The software includes a menu-driven program and a command line program. The menu-driven program is designed specifically for ease of use. The command line program can be run from the DOS prompt, from a batch file, or from within a PC application program.
